Our History

Gibson & Jones Vets has been running in the local area for over 40 years. The partnership was set up in the 1980s between Richard Gibson and Alun Jones. The practice developed from a small practice originally ‘Jones Vets’ based in the heart of Llanelli. The practice operates out of two branches Gowerton and Llanelli and covers a wide area with patients throughout Carmarthenshire and Swansea.

Richard Gibson stepped down from clinical veterinary work at the practice in 2017, and mainly focussed on management until he started his well deserved retirement in 2022. Alun Jones can still be found working out of our Gowerton branch a few days each week, he very much enjoys being a vet and is not quite ready for retirement any time soon!

In 2022 Kevin Jones, a vet who will be a familiar face to many clients purchased the business from Alun and Richard ensuring the practice and will continue to be a locally owned independent non-corporate practice.

Originally a mixed practice Gibson & Jones Vets provided veterinary care for horses and farm animals as well as pets. Over the years we have streamlined our services to provide better care for smaller pets and now we mainly care for dogs, cats, small animals and exotic species.
